Chemung County and state health officials are investigating a case of Legionellosis (Legionnaires’ disease) at the Chemung County Nursing Facility in Elmira.
Health officials do not believe the case is related to a cluster of cases of the serious and sometimes fatal bacterial disease reported in late August.
However, a 12th case considered part of that cluster has also been confirmed, according to the Chemung County Health Department.
The county Health Department and New York State Department of Health are currently investigating all of the Legionnaires’ disease cases in the county, and are planning another round of environmental sampling Monday.
