The Guthrie Healthworks medical office in Erwin, just outside Painted Post, closed temporarily after the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease was found in water samples.
The state Health Department confirmed that water samples collected by facility staff tested positive for legionella bacteria. There were no reports of illness associated with the discovery, Health Department Public Information Officer Jeffrey Hammond said.
As a precaution, the center voluntarily closed while it implemented measures to prevent potential exposure to legionella, Hammond said.
