Fear of ‘unsafe’ water at Southsea filling stations as they repeatedly fail Legionella lab tests

WATER refill stations costing £38,000 of public cash have repeatedly failed tests for Legionella with council workers flushing away thousands of litres of water to keep them safe. Four units were installed last year in Southsea by Portsmouth City Council but it has emerged they have repeatedly failed laboratory tests. FULL ARTICLE

Facility can’t accept new residents after new positive legionella test

The state health department is barring any new residents from entering an assisted living facility in Guilderland after a resident tested positive for legionnaires disease. The state ordered the Promenade Assisted Living facility to do this as they try to get the legionella bacteria levels under control. FULL ARTICLE

Cryptosporidium Found Again In Portland Water

Portland’s water bureau is warning that residents who have weakened immune systems should talk to their doctors before drinking city tap water, after tests from the Bull Run Watershed found two units of cryptosporidium in a 50-liter water sample Tuesday. FULL ARTICLE

Flybe disruption caused by contaminated bottles of water fears

Flybe has apologised after fears about the possible contamination of bottled water for airline crew caused disruption to flights. The airline said the bottles had been recalled due to potential “microbiological contamination”. It said the issue caused limited disruption to some flights on Wednesday evening. FULL ARTICLE

Legionella limits broken at Children’s Services HQ

Levels of legionella bacteria hundreds of times above acceptable guidelines were found in the water supply of a key government building, it has emerged. Levels in Liberté House were found to be way over UK limits, on a floor which staff used for meetings for six months before the water was tested. FULL ARTICLE

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville reports case of Legionnaires’ disease

ANNOUNCING OUR NEW GRIME SCENE COMPETITION:

Following on from the successful Grime Scene competition, we have decided to continue the theme for another year, but with a twist. This year, we are asking for photographs of the grimiest pictures you can find accompanied with another photograph of how the ‘scene’ has been improved by your maintenance or cleaning.


We will display the photographs in each of the Waterline editions throughout 2024. The ‘most improved’ picture will be chosen by WMSoc members via an online vote. The winner will receive a £25 Amazon Gift Voucher after the Winter 2024/25 edition has been published.
